A Conversation with Atul Gawande, MD

Presented by El Camino Health Foundation
Tuesday, June 2 at 7:00 p.m.
Medicine has triumphed in modern times, transforming the dangers of childbirth, injury, and disease from harrowing to manageable. But when it comes to the inescapable realities of aging and terminal illness, what medicine can do often runs counter to what it should. Dr. Atul Gawande, author of the New York Times best seller, Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters in the End, will discuss how patients and families can have meaningful conversations with physicians and clinicians with Dr. Mark Adams, Chief Medical Officer of El Camino Health, and how to ensure we never sacrifice what people really care about. You will learn about El Camino Health’s commitment to be a partner in healthcare that helps improve the quality of the health of residents in our community.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The program begins at 7:00 p.m. and will be 90 minutes, including a question-and-answer session at the end of the presentation. This event is appropriate for ages 12 and up.
Dr. Gawande’s appearance has been generously underwritten by the Behar Family in loving memory of Drs. Don & Elaine Ehrman and Jerry Behar. Proceeds from the evening will benefit health programs at El Camino Health.
