Coppélia is considered one of the greatest comic ballets of the 19th Century and remains one of the most cherished classical works in classical ballet repertory. Originally choreographed by Arthur St. Léon in 1870, restaged by Petipa in 1884, and revised by Cecchetti in 1894.
Bayer Ballet is honored to welcome back choreographers, Vasily Medvedev and Stanislav Feco, who will set Coppélia Suite with participants of Bayer Ballet’s 6-week Summer Intensive. Mr. Medvedev has choreographed more than 50 works for major ballet companies, including the Bolshoi and Staatsballett Berlin. He has choreographed Coppélia for the National Ballet of Panama in Panama City and for the National Theatre in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. This performance is 2 hours and 20 minutes long with one intermission and is appropriate for all ages.
